No Workshop que falei no último post aprendi outra técnica de encastrar pedras, neste exercício foi encastrar uma pedra semi-preciosa com um corte briolete. Estas pedras que não têm uma base plana são um pouco mais complicadas de encastrar e temos que recorrer a algumas contas e fórmulas matemáticas para conseguirmos encastrar a pedra que queremos sem desperdiçar material precioso :)

In the Workshop that I've spoken in the previous post I've learned another technique of setting stones. In this exercise was setting a semi-precious stone with a briolete cut. These stones that don't have a flat base are a little more difficult to set and we have to do some math to set these stones without wasting precious materials :)
Depois de alguns esboços cheguei a um design que me agradava e incorporava o pensamento das formas que eu tinha aprendido com Wirewrapping e as novas técnicas de soldadura.
After some sketches I was glad with this design that incorporates the way of thinking forms that I've learned with Wirewrapping and the new techniques of soldering.
Para este anel comecei por aprender como calcular o metal que tinha que ter para fazer a moldura da pedra, para este tipo de pedras que não têm uma base plana, temos que construir uma parte interior onde a pedra vai assentar e uma moldura exterior que vai envolver a pedra.
To make this ring I had to start to calculate the metal that I needed to make the bezel for this stone. For this kind of stones that don't have a flat base we have to construct an interior part of the bezel where the stone is going to sit and an outside bezel that's going to envolve the stone.
Depois da moldura estar construída foi tempo de construir o resto do anel que foi bastante desafiante. Foi criado com duas peças de fio de prata de perfil D, aprendi da pior maneira que não é o perfil mais fácil para criar curvas bastante acentuadas!! Mas com a ajuda de três tutoras na Flux, consegui fazer este anel incrível! Obrigada Barbora Rybarova, Rebecca Dockree e Vicky Forrester :D
After building the bezel was time to construct the ring shank that was really challenging. It was created with two parts of Silver wire with profile D, I learned the harder way that this is not the best wire to have steep curves!!! But with the help of three tutors on Flux, I managed to finish this amazing ring! Thank you Barbora Rybarova, Rebecca Dockree and Vicky Forrester :D
